I am an Identity-affirming Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Music Therapist-Board Certified dedicated to helping teens and adults navigate life transitions, develop self-acceptance, gain tools to manage mental health symptoms, and move toward living in line with their values.
Individual Therapy
In individual therapy, I can support you in gaining a better understanding of yourself, adjusting to changing life circumstances, processing things from the past that may be holding you back from who you want to be, or getting out of that place where you feel stuck. Therapy is a safe place where you are free to be uncensored, a place to experiment with new ways of thinking, feeling, and being that may feel too risky to try on your own. One of the most powerful experiences in therapy is learning how to trust yourself again and feel confident in your own skin.
Music Therapy
Music therapy is an interactive process using activities such as active listening, lyric discussion, song-writing, improvisation, and drumming. It helps with goals such as expressing emotions, increasing self-esteem, processing grief and loss, or reducing stress. Musical skills and knowledge are not needed. Music therapy works by activating several areas of the brain simultaneously, including emotion, language, memory, sensory processing and motor activity. It increases the release of dopamine, decreases cortisol, and stimulates neuroplasticity. Music therapy can be especially helpful with accessing and expressing difficult emotions or if talking is difficult.
