I completed my graduate work at New York University. In addition to my clinical experience, I have over five years of experience in the vocational rehabilitation field providing support to clients with work related issues and career transitions . I am also a Board Certified Music Therapist and completed a Health Coach certification program with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. I've worked in a variety of settings including out-patient, skilled nursing facilities, youth residential treatment communities, rehabilitation facilities with children and adults, and at the Dept. of Veterans Affairs.
My favorite part of being a therapist is connecting with people and bringing out their strengths. I am honored to walk alongside my clients and support them in navigating rough transitions or exploring new pathways to experience healing and freedom from the past. I'm a generalist at heart and enjoy working with a variety of people to address a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, adjustment, work stress, life transitions and grief and loss. I value curiosity as it helps me learn which therapeutic approach will work best for you, including elements of ACT, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and somatic therapy. I often bring expressive arts, such as creative writing, art or music, into sessions as well depending on client preferences.
I am an identity-affirming therapist and use a trauma-informed, relational approach that is warm and direct. I provide feedback that may challenge and expand current perspectives, and we may find ourselves having a laugh or 2 along the way. I believe that my clients are really the expert on themselves and I am there to listen, provide guidance and teach skills that you can begin using in your every day life.
Outside of the therapy space, I enjoy hiking adventures whenever it is below 95 degrees, creating healthy meals and desserts that taste as good as the unhealthy ones, or chilling with my dogs and cat and a nice police procedural novel, all with a sound track of anything from jazz to metal.
